Cataract surgeries

Cataracts are a condition that affects the eye’s lens, leading to a loss of transparency and causing blurry vision. Cataracts usually occur with aging as proteins accumulate on the lens, hindering light from passing clearly to the retina. At Al Arrayed Eye Center, we provide the latest equipment and technology for diagnosing and treating cataracts under the supervision of consultants with over 50 years of experience, successfully completing thousands of procedures. Our center also has a highly trained team dedicated to patient care, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the treatment journey.

Cataract symptoms include blurred or cloudy vision, difficulty seeing at night, needing brighter light for reading, and seeing halos around lights. If left untreated, cataracts can reduce the quality of life; however, thanks to medical advancements, they can be treated surgically. The procedure involves replacing the damaged lens with a transparent artificial lens (IOL), helping the patient regain clear vision.

Symptoms:

  • Blurred Vision: Vision starts becoming cloudy or unclear.
  • Difficulty Seeing at Night: Seeing in low-light conditions, such as driving at night, becomes challenging.
  • Light Sensitivity: The patient may feel that lights are uncomfortably bright or glaring.
  • Seeing Halos Around Lights: Light halos may appear around lights, especially at night.
  • Color Changes: Colors may seem faded or less vivid.
  • Double Vision: Sometimes, objects appear double when looking with one eye.
  • Frequent Prescription Changes: The person may need to change glasses or contact lenses frequently due to worsening vision.

Treatment:

Cataract removal and lens implantation surgery is a common procedure aimed at restoring clear vision. At Al Arrayed Eye Center, the surgery is performed through a series of carefully planned steps using the latest technology with the Centurion device, known for its precision and safety, and includes the following steps:

    1. Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered to the eye through eye drops, making the procedure painless and comfortable for the patient.
    2. Removing the Damaged Lens: The doctor makes a small incision in the cornea and uses an ultrasound device to break up the cloudy lens (cataract) into tiny pieces, which are then gently removed.
    3. Implanting Artificial IOL Lens: After removing the old lens, a transparent artificial lens (IOL) is implanted to improve vision. This lens is designed to be permanent and maintenance-free, available in various types (Monofocal, Multifocal and EDOF Extended Depth of Focus Lenses) to meet the patient’s needs.
    4. Recovery: The procedure is quick, typically lasting 15 to 30 minutes, and the patient can go home the same day. Patients are advised to follow the doctor’s instructions for post-surgery care, which may include avoiding certain activities and protecting the eye from contaminants.

Thanks to the extensive experience and advanced technology at Al Arrayed Eye Center, the success rate of cataract surgery exceeds 95%.
